With its population exceeding a billion, India grapples with considerable educational challenges, including a literacy rate of only about one-third. The swiftly expanding populace, coupled with a lack of teachers, textbooks, basic infrastructure, and insufficient public funding, intensifies these difficulties, significantly affecting children's education nationwide.
Research indicates that over 30% of educational expenditure is allocated to higher education, which leaves primary education underfunded and struggling. Despite being the fourth among the top 10 countries in terms of the number of children at the primary level, India experiences a troublingly high dropout rate. Poverty plays a crucial role in this issue; when the primary goal is to earn a livelihood and support family members, education often falls to a lower priority or is neglected entirely.
